A Message from the Head of School

Dear Parents of Future Riverhawks,

At Cardinal Newman Academy, we help our students discover joy by forming their minds to know truth and their wills to seek what is good. This grounding in reality enables each of them to advance on their own path to realize their full potential by becoming the great man or woman God created them to be. We believe this is the way to a life of joy.

Our students are offered systematic knowledge of the Catholic and Classical intellectual traditions, integrated knowledge of core academic subjects, and the ability to reason well and communicate effectively. We promote the development of a personal relationship with God, a spirit of joyful service to others and a commitment to honoring the dignity of the human person in all that they do.

Through courses in literature, history, religion and philosophy, students inherit a foundation of knowledge. Through mathematics and scientific courses, they learn the truths of the natural world. In all our disciplines, students are exposed to the historical, cultural and natural opportunities of our Richmond location.

Cardinal Newman Academy is a small community, where respect, accountability and self-discipline are fostered. The spiritual life is cultivated daily through prayer, the Mass and other enrichment opportunities, as we seek to ground the responsibility for self and others as expressions of Christian love.

We have a lot of fun at Newman!  We have team sports, hiking trips, visits to museums and shrines, cake decorating competitions, guitar and art classes, eco-retreats, picnics, and lots of laughter!

Please get in touch if you suspect this might be the joyful school for your son or daughter — admissions@cardinalnewmanacademy,org or 804-464-3575.
