On behalf of the Board of Directors of Cardinal Newman Academy, I am excited to share the news that Mr. Devin King is joining our community as our next Head of School.
For two years, Mr. Stephen Fitzpatrick has led our school in a critical phase of our growth. At a new location, Mr. Fitzpatrick increased enrollment, added programs, and shepherded us closer to both canonical approval by the Diocese of Richmond and accreditation by Cognia, both of which will see fruition in the near future.
And in a few weeks, our first graduates will receive their diplomas and continue on their academic and spiritual journeys. Their success, and that of all of our students, is a testament to his tireless service and unfailing leadership. Mr. Fitzpatrick’s vision and hard work have been instrumental in our growth as we continue to build our school and serve the needs of the Richmond Catholic community.
On behalf of all of our faculty, families, and supporters, I thank Stephen for his contributions.
We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Devin King to continue this growth as we enter a new phase in our school’s young life. Devin joins us after serving in several academic and administrative roles at Veritas Preparatory School in Williamsburg, VA. There he taught Latin, Euclid, and History and became a quick favorite of students and families alike for his enthusiasm and leadership.
In addition to teaching, Mr. King served in a variety of leadership roles, including Dean of Discipline and Academic Dean. Mr. King is a graduate of Thomas More College, where he received a B.A. in Liberal Arts. During his time at Thomas More, he spent time studying in Rome as well as at Oxford University. Prior to Veritas, Mr. King taught at Tyburn Academy, a Catholic school in central New York.
To welcome Mr. King and introduce him to our community, we will be hosting a meet and greet at the school on May 15, 2021, at 6:30pm. We hope you can join us. Mr. King can also be reached at [email protected].
